NOB-USA news: Another new tension is haunting Indian students in America. US President Donald Trump, who had been running trains in the hearts of illegal immigrants, is now making it difficult for those who have gone to America legally to calm down. The Trump government is planning to put a full stop to the OPT authorization (Optional Practical Training) policy given to those who have completed their master’s degree in America. As part of that, a new bill has also been introduced in the US Parliament. If the new bill comes into effect, foreign students who have completed higher education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects in America will have to leave the country after completing their studies. This decision taken by the US government will affect F1 and M1 student visa holders. According to the currently available statistics, this bill is hanging like a knife on the neck of about 3 lakh Indian students. If this new bill comes into effect, they will have to leave the US immediately after completing their studies. That is, they will have to self-deport. Otherwise, the government will recognize them as illegal immigrants for staying in the US even after their visas have expired and deport them. This new bill will also affect those who have already completed their studies and are trying to get an H1B visa with OPT authorization. That is why they are all wondering what will happen to them. Those who have completed their master’s degree in the US will need this Optional Practical Training Authorization to get a job there. Only foreign students with OPT are allowed to work in the US based on their degree. Those with this OPT are allowed to stay in the US for at least three years. During that time, they will try to get a H1B visa while doing some kind of job for temporary needs. However, the abolition of the OPT system will mean that those who have completed higher education will no longer have the opportunity to stay in the United States without an H1B visa. Although there was an attempt to abolish the OPT authorization system when Donald Trump first came to power, it failed at that time. But after coming to power for the second time, Trump has been acting very aggressively. As promised during the election, it is known that he has opened up to mass deportations like never before in American history. With this, there are reports that Trump’s attitude regarding this bill will be the same.
