6 arrested in cases of abortion and death of pregnant women

NOB- Suryapet news: District SP Sunpreet Singh disclosed the details in a media conference held at the district police office in connection with the case of sex determination, abortion and death of a pregnant woman. SP said that such an incident is very unfortunate. He said that we will investigate this case and take action against all those who are related to it. Strict action will be taken as per PNDT Act against those who get gender confirmed and encouraged to do so, and the SP asked the police to give the information related to them.

Suhasini v. daughter of Battu Krishna and Kranti of Battu Tanda, Dornakal Mandal, Mahbubad District 27 years old, got married to Ratnawat Harisingh of MG Nagar Tanda in Chavvemla Mandal on 23.05.2019. They have two daughters. Elder daughter Jeesvika, Age: 4 yrs, Younger daughter Anvika, Age: 2 yrs. After having two girls, Suhasini will undergo an operation, which means that her husband Harisingh and his friends together pressured Suhasini not to undergo the operation, as her husband wanted a boy as the heir, and threatened to marry someone else if she did not have a boy, Suhasini did not undergo the tubectomy operation out of fear. When Suhasini became pregnant, her husband Hari Singh and Harisingh’s friends took her to DR. Gurvayya Hospital in Kodada in an auto for four times from about two months to scan. On the fourth time Suhasini was told that there was a girl in her womb, her husband and his family members took Suhasini together. On 24.06.2024 Hari Singh, husband of deceased Suhasini, mother and parents of the deceased called Suhasini and said that they were showing Suhasini in Kodada Hospital and handed over the deceased’s two children to her on the same day along with her husband and relatives at New Kamala in Huzur Nagar. She was taken to the hospital, where Qasim talked to Suhasini about abortion and the sister gave her tablets. On the morning of 25.06.2024, Qasim took the deceased to Peddavedu village and kept her in his house. Again, the sister was called there and Suhasini was given tablets. Qasim took the deceased and her husband in the car and took her to Matampally and then to Kodada and DR. Gurvaiah doctor brought her to the hospital to perform an immediate operation as the bleeding due to the injections was not abortive. The next day i.e. on 26.06.2024 in the morning DR. Gurvaiah came and scanned Suhasini and she was seriously ill. It was told to take her to Khammam for better treatment and from there Suhasini was taken to Prashanthi Hospital in Khammam where the doctor examined her and said that her condition is serious, take her to Hyderabad then they took her from Khammam to Hyderabad and when she was near Suryapet she was taken to DR. Rammurthy Hospital in Suryapet in the evening when her condition was serious. At around 4:00 PM, the doctor saw Suhasini and said that Suhasini was already dead and took the body to MG Nagar Tanda.

In Chavvemla PS registered a case under PNDT act and investigation was done on 01.07.2024. Offenders Ratnawat Hari Singh husband of deceased, Sheikh Qasim New Kamala Hospital Manager, Hujoor Nagar, Devarakonda Rani (Nurse) Hujoor Nagar, Ranapangu Gopi, Compounder Vijaya Hospital , Kodada, Sheikh Saidulu , Kodada and Amargani Naveen R/o Talla Malkapuram were arrested and remanded. Other criminals are absconding. The SP said that the case will be investigated and legal action will be taken against all. All the offenders knowingly aborted the deceased who was 8 months pregnant knowing that her life would be endangered and to kill the unborn baby girl. Circle Inspector Surender Reddy, SI Venkat Reddy, SI Ratnam, ASI Venkanna worked well in this case under DSP Ravi and congratulated all.

Case registered in Chavvemla PS –

1) Determining the gender of fetus U/s 23 (1)(3) Pre-Conception & Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act-1994 is an offence,

2) Abortion is U/s 314 IPC and medical termination Offense under section 5(2),5(3) of Pregnancy Act.
