NOB-Uttar Pradesh news: A shocking incident came to light in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, where on the seventh day of marriage, bride Rukhsana got her husband killed by her non-Muslim lover. According to the police, the accused named Rinku Singh, on the pretext of asking for directions outside the house, took her husband Anees with her for some distance and shot him in the forehead with a pistol and fled the scene. The police revealed the matter within a few hours and arrested the main accused Rinku Singh, while the bride Rukhsana has also been taken into custody. The two had been in an illicit relationship for two years. The incident took place in Bedipur village of Basti district. 25-year-old Anees, son of Shamsuddin, used to operate a hydra crane in Mumbai and had come to the village on November 10^th 2025 for his wedding.  He was married on November 13^th 2025 to a 20-year-old Rukhsana of Gonda, who is said to be the daughter of Anees’s maternal aunt. After the marriage, Rukhsana went to Mecca on November 19^th 2025 on the pretext of her fourth wedding anniversary. During this time, she planned the murder with her lover Rinku Singh, son of Makhan Lal Kannojia. According to the police, Rinku Singh is a resident of the same village and the two had been having an affair for about two years, which continued even after marriage. According to the police, Rukhsana provided her lover with complete information about her husband’s location and activities. On 20.11.2025 evening, Anees was walking outside his house when Rinku Singh arrived on a motorcycle with a young companion. He made a pretext of asking for directions and took him some distance by talking. Finding an opportunity, he pointed a pistol at his forehead and shot him from close range. The bullet lodged inside the head, due to which the external mark on the injured person’s head was not clear and the people around did not even hear the sound of the gunshot.  The injured Anees was immediately taken to Shri Ram Hospital Ayodhya from where he was shifted to the Medical College, but the doctors could not save him and he succumbed to his injuries. After the incident, the police started an investigation based on suspicion by questioning people near the accident site. The accused Rinku Singh was arrested late on 20.11.2025 night. Rinku broke down under the police’s pressure and confessed to the crime and narrated the entire story of the murder. The police have also arrested his young accomplice and will present him before the Child Justice Board for judicial proceedings. Initially, Rukhsana gave a statement to the police that she had no prior knowledge of the murder and came to know about the shooting only at the time of the incident. She said that Rinku Singh was definitely her lover but she did not take him into her confidence and kill her husband. However, after the mobile recording, location data and chat details came to light during the investigation, the police said that Rukhsana is an equal partner in the conspiracy and she provided the basic information for the murder.  According to Anee’s father Shamsuddin, some unknown persons had stopped Anee’s car on the day of the farewell and threatened him on the way, however, the family did not register any case at that time. According to the police, instead of personal grudge or marital dispute, the angle of love and dislike for marriage has clearly come to the fore, on the basis of which the murder was planned. Since the incident was between people of two different religions, additional police force has been deployed in the village to maintain law and order. Basti SP Abhinandan told the media that the main accused in the murder, Rinku Singh, has been arrested and the country made pistol, cartridges and other evidence used in the murder have been recovered from his possession. Further interrogation of Rukhsana is underway and action is being taken against her under the provisions of conspiracy to murder, aiding and abetting.
