Supreme Court gives green signal to Pujas in Gnanavapi Masjid Cellar

NOB_ Supreme court gave permission for pujas in Cellar of Gnanavapi

NOB- Varanasi news:  A key development has taken place in the Kashi Gnanavapi Masjid case. The Supreme Court on 01.04.2024 gave a crucial verdict on the Gnanavapi Masjid dispute in Varanasi. The Supreme Court refused to stay the Allahabad High Court’s verdict that allowed Hindus to worship in the cellar of the mosque. In its order, the apex court said that status quo should be maintained in the Gnanavapi premises so that both communities could offer religious prayers. The Supreme Court has ordered the authorities to implement these restrictions till the final verdict in the Gnanavapi Masjid dispute case. However, the court said that the status quo should be continued in the matter of Hindus worshiping in the premises of the mosque. The Supreme Court of the country has made it clear that the petition of the mosque committee to deny permission to Hindus to worship in the basement of the mosque will be finally heard in July 2024. CJI Chandrachud stated that they feel that the prayers being performed in the cellar in the southern part will not affect the prayers offered by the Muslims in the northern part.
