
NOB- Chhattisgarh news: A huge encounter took place in Chhattisgarh. 22 Maoists were killed in a fierce gunfight between security forces and Maoists on the Bijapur-Dantewada district border. A joint team has left for an anti-Maoist operation in Gangalur police station limits on the Bijapur-Dantewada district border. During the operation, the Maoists encountered the security forces. Due to this, continuous firing took place between the Maoists and the security forces from 7 am on 20.03.2025. While 22 Maoists were killed in this firing, a huge amount of weapons were recovered from the scene. With this, the Maoists have once again suffered a huge setback. A large amount of automatic weapons and ammunition along with the bodies of eighteen Naxalites were recovered from the encounter site. It is also reported that a soldier from Bijapur DRG was martyred in the encounter. Encounters and searches are still ongoing at the scene. The Maoists are suffering irreparable damage with a series of encounters. The operation to completely eliminate the Maoist party, named Operation Khagar, is continuing aggressively. On 20.03.2025 a huge encounter took place in Bijapur. So far, 22 Maoists have been killed and it seems that the death toll is likely to increase. Search operations are still ongoing around the scene of the incident. Operation Khagar was launched in January 2024 year as part of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s vow to completely eliminate Maoist parties in the country by March 31 2026 year. Union Home Ministry officials say that more than 300 Maoists have been killed so far.
