
NOB- Delhi news: The Supreme Court will hear petitions challenging the Waqf Act on 16.04.2025. A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court will hear the matter at 2 pm. Recently, both houses of Parliament passed the Waqf Amendment Bill. Later, it was sent to the President for assent, and the Waqf Act came into force. However, protests are being held in many places across the country. Large-scale protests are being held in Bengal. Violence broke out in many places, killing four people and injuring dozens. Police officers were also injured. However, many have filed petitions in the Supreme Court demanding the repeal of the Waqf Act. Petitions have been filed in support of the Waqf Act by six BJP-ruled states. The court will hear two types of petitions on 16.04.2025. A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justices Sanjay Kumar and K.V. Vishwanathan will hear the matter at 2 pm.
