“Telangana Future Ready” – High-level meeting with teacher’s unions

NOB-Hyderabad news: A special meeting with teacher’s unions titled “Telangana Future Ready” was organized under the Education Secretary Dr. Yogita Rana, IAS at Godavari Hall, SCERT premises, Hyderabad.First, EV Narsimhareddy IAS, DSE explained through a power point presentation how the performance of our Telangana state students is in NAS, ASER, how the student’s enrollment is decreasing in Govt Schools.Speaking, the Secretary sought suggestions to increase quality education and quality and increase enrollment.Teacher’s unions were requested to adopt schools and improve quality. Accordingly, the leaders of all unions spoke and made the following suggestions/instructions:

  • It was suggested that everyone should work to increase the enrollment of students through the school walk program. It was said that it would be better to organize such a program in April or the last week of May instead of June 2025.
  • If pre-primary classes are started in government schools, enrollment will increase, and teacher trainings should be conducted during vacations.
  • It would be better to organize an exposure visit to good schools program.
  • Enrollment will increase if Anganwadi centers are linked to pre-primary schools.
  • It would be better to conduct teacher trainings during summer vacations.

They said that by providing teacher trainings through quality resource persons, the capacity building of teachers will take place and thus there is a possibility of increasing quality. The recent recruitment of resource persons by the selection committee was welcomed and appreciated.

  • Motivation and counseling should be conducted for teachers with a psychologist.
  • Quality can be increased by strengthening the inspection system.
  • Rationalization of teachers can provide quality education.
  • It is very important for teachers to interact with students in the classroom.
  • There is a need to do a face lift of government schools.
  • Action should be taken against private schools running against the rules.
  • Complex meetings should be held strictly to fulfill the purpose.
  • If there is a teacher for each class, there is a possibility of increasing the confidence of parents and improving the quality.
  • If the spoken English program is implemented in schools, students can easily speak English.
  • It would be good to change the current textbook syllabus according to the changing conditions
  • Regular DEOs and MEOs have been requested to be appointed.
  • Monitoring of schools should be increased.
  • Steps should be taken to organize sports/physical education in every school.
  • It would be good if the officials visit the schools with high enrollment so that best practices can be implemented in the rest of the schools as well.
  • The non-teaching work of teachers should be reduced and focus should be placed on the quality of students.
  • Another teacher should be appointed temporarily when teachers are on maternity leave or deputation.
  • Schools that are doing very well do not seek publicity.
  • Publicity should be done through flexi, local TV channel/magazines.
  • Best school teachers awards should be recognized and given by the authorities, not through the application method.

The meeting discussed important issues such as increasing student enrollment in government schools, basic educational development of students, etc., Dr. Yogita Rana had one-on-one discussions with the representatives of the teacher’s unions. The Education Department reiterated its firm resolve to work with the teachers for the progress of government schools in this meeting. The leaders of all the unions welcomed the organization of this program to increase student enrollment and educational quality standards. It was suggested that such programs should be organized more often. E.V. Narasimha Reddy, IAS, Director of School Education, A. Sridevasena, IAS, Commissioner of College and Technical Education, M. Haritha, IAS, Special Secretary, Education Department, and all Additional Directors of the School Education Department participated in this program.
