NOB- Kakinada news: They went there thinking that it was safe to give birth in a government hospital. The pregnant woman was admitted there a day earlier. When she started having pains in the early hours of 14.06.2025 morning, they tried to wake up the doctor and the staff, but they did not wake up. So the pregnant woman delivered a baby boy, but the baby did not survive. The horrific incident took place at the Tallarevu Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kakinada district on 14.06.2025. According to the details given by the victims, pregnant Chekka Madhuri from Pedaboddu Venkatayapalem in Tallarevu mandal was admitted to the CHC at 5.45 am on 13.06.2025 for her second delivery. The pain intensified in the early hours of 14.06.2025. The doctor and staff were woken up, but they did not wake up. Meanwhile, when the female sweeper went to the bed, Madhuri gave birth. The sweeper cut the baby’s umbilical cord and performed the delivery. After some time, two staff nurses and a doctor came and examined her. The condition of the baby was critical as there was no movement in the baby and they advised her to be shifted to Kakinada GGH. After taking her there, the doctors examined her and confirmed that the baby had died a long time ago. Madhuri’s family members expressed concern. The body of the baby was taken from Kakinada to Tallarevu and they protested on the road in front of the hospital from 8 am to 4 pm. They demanded that the hospital doctor Snehalatha, who was responsible for the baby’s death, be suspended and action be taken against the staff. Kakinada RDO Mallibabu and Mummidivaram MLA Datla Buchibabu immediately reached the spot and spoke to the victims and assured them that justice would be done, so they called off the protest. Later, doctors Vinod and Sujatha conducted an inquiry into the incident. The RDO announced that the hospital’s staff nurse A. Indira has been suspended. RDO Mallibabu said that further action will be taken based on the inquiry report. The mother was not informed about the baby’s death. She is waiting for her son at the hospital.
