NOB- Prakasm news: In the backdrop of the high demand for fertilizers and pesticides for ongoing agricultural work in Prakasam district, some traders are stockpiling urea and selling it in the black market, causing trouble to farmers, the district police department has been alerted and has carried out surprise inspections in advance. On the orders of Prakasam District SP A.R. Damodar, IPS., a total of 121 fertilizer shops, fertilizer warehouses, primary agricultural credit societies and various places in the district were conducted search on 02.09.2025 in coordination with DSPs, CIs, SIs and Agriculture Department officials. In these inspections, the officials thoroughly examined the stock records, details recorded in POS machines, distribution registers and sales documents. Special attention was paid to urea stocks and appropriate measures were taken to prevent them from going to the black market. The officials thoroughly examined whether there were any discrepancies between the actual stocks in the stores and the stocks recorded in the POS machines. To ensure that there was no disruption in the supply of urea, the fertilizer stocks and distribution methods were closely monitored. The officials made it clear that every fertilizer store should accurately record its stock details in the POS machine and there should be no discrepancies between the actual stocks and the records. They warned that legal action would be taken if such discrepancies were found in the future. They warned that farmers should not be sold any more fertilizers than the MRP (maximum retail price) prescribed by the government, otherwise action would be taken. They advised to avoid creating artificial shortages and trying to inconvenience the farmers, and to act with goodwill and provide them with the required fertilizers on time. Police officials suggested that a receipt be given for the sale of every bag of fertilizer to prevent farmers from being cheated. If any irregularities are noticed in the matter of fertilizers and pesticides, people should immediately inform the nearest police station or agriculture department officials. Legal action will be taken against those involved in irregularities, and the police will stand by the farmers, they said. The police said that these surprise raids will help increase transparency in the agriculture sector, curb black market sales and protect the interests of farmers. They warned that such inspections will continue in the future as well.
