A woman clicked on the link that came with her WhatsApp message. Cybercriminals have stolen Rs. 21 lakhs in her bank account. Through that link, they have hacked her phone and stolen the money. Police advises to be vigilant about such messages. No matter how much people tell us to be vigilant about text messages and WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers, sources, some people remain negligent and are being cheated by cyber criminals. Recently, a woman from Andhra Pradesh lost Rs. 21 lakhs by clicking on a message link sent to her on WhatsApp. Later she complained to the police.
Going into the details, a woman named Varalakshmi from Annamaiya district worked as a teacher and retired. On Monday, she received a message on WhatsApp from an unknown number. Clicked on the link with the message. After that, the money disappeared from her account immediately. Several times she received messages that Rs.20,000, Rs.40,000 and Rs.80,000 were withdrawn from her account. The total amount of Rs.21 lakh in her account was lost. Shocked by this, the woman immediately contacted the bank officials. The bank officials suggested that her phone was hacked and she should file a complaint with the cyber police. She immediately lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police. The police said that due to her clicking on the WhatsApp link several times, the money was withdrawn from her account by the cyber criminals. The police advised that they are investigating the matter and everyone should be vigilant about such messages.
