NOB- Uttar Pradesh news: It is known that the murder case of NEET candidate Deepak Gupta from Gorakhpur has become a sensation in the entire state. With this, the police, who took the case seriously, rushed to the field to arrest the accused. In this process, the accused died in a police encounter here, police said on 27.09.2025. The accused has been identified as Zubair alias Kalia (26), a resident of Gher Mardan Khan in the Kotwali Police Station area and a cattle smuggler. He has a reward of one lakh, the police said. According to the police on 27.09.2025 night, an encounter took place with Zubair on the way to Mandi from Chaku Chowk in Ganj Police Station area of ​​Rampur district. In this, the accused lost his life on the spot. Meanwhile, in an incident in Pipraich area of ​​Gorakhpur, 19-year-old NEET candidate Deepak Gupta was killed by cattle smugglers. When Deepak, a youth from Jangaladhushar village, tried to catch cattle smugglers, they forcibly took him away and beat him up in Mahuvachafi village of Rampur district. Later, his body was dumped about 4 km from the village. The post-mortem report revealed that there were injuries on the body, but no gunshot wounds. Angry over the incident, the villagers set the smuggler’s vehicle on fire. They attacked the police with stones. Senior police officers were reportedly injured in the attack. Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to the victim’s family and ordered strict action against the accused. The police have initiated steps to arrest the accused in this case. The main accused, Rahim, was reportedly injured in an encounter on Ramkola Road in Kushinagar district.
