Hyderabad Cybercrime Police arrested eleven cybercriminals on 5th of last month. The charge against them is that they committed fraud by making calls claiming to redeem SBI credit card reward points. Police investigations revealed that there are 18 cases against this gang in Telangana. It has been revealed that they are involved in 100 cases across the country. This was made possible by analyzing gang antecedents through the Cybercrime Analysis and Profiling System (CYCOPS) tool. Telangana Counter Intelligence Division (CI Cell) IG Rajesh SP Devender Singh launched this software in July last year. Now it has become a benchmark for cybercrime analysis across the country. With the approval of the Union Home Ministry, 28 states are connected to it. Antecedents of cyber gangs are shared by cycops. 28 states about 600 criminals about 43 thousand cybercrimes this is the cychops analysis in one year.
Victims of cybercrimes can call 1930 toll free number and complain. Or can also file a complaint online at the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. The Telangana Counter Intelligence Cell analyzes that information from time to time. It embeds it in the cycops software. In this program, the information of 43 thousand cases of cybercrimes registered across the country so far has been stored. Due to this, the police are regularly getting the information of the cyber criminals involved in the complaints registered in their state and are proceeding with the investigation. Also the police of the respective states are sharing the investigation details in this software.
The cycops team regularly compiles information from cybercriminal complaints. When any cybercrime is committed, criminals call from which SIM and commit fraud? Which mobile handset is used? To which bank account was the loot transferred? Which wallet is used to transfer money? It collects details such as through which ATM card was drawn. It detects how many crimes are committed from a single SIM or from a single mobile handset and confirms that they are all committed by the same gang. It provides information to the states in which the gang has committed crimes.
