NOB-Bangaladesh news: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been found guilty by the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1). She has been sentenced to death. The ICT judge said that 1400 people died and 24,000 were injured in the protests in July and August 2024. He said that she had ordered the killing of those protesting against her. The ICT gave its latest verdict on charges of crimes against humanity. Heavy security was deployed around the ICT in the wake of the verdict. High alert was declared in Dhaka. The judge said that the Hasina government deployed deadly weapons, including firearms and helicopters, to suppress the protests, resulting in widespread violence and carnage. He also read out conversations between Hasina and the South Dhaka Municipal Corporation. He said that Hasina incited violence by branding people as Razakars and anti-government, and there is sufficient evidence to prove the charges against her. He said that she also made insulting comments in a media conference on July 14th 2024. Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted due to student agitation, left Bangladesh on August 5th 2024 and came to India. Since then, she has been living in a secret place. Even in the wake of the verdict against her whatever the court decides, she said that she will work for the people till her life is up and that she lost her parents for the country.
