Piyush Goyal addressed the students on the topic ‘Digitalisation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Pillars of Indian Economic Growth’.
Recalling the Prime Minister’s address on Independence Day, Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitaraman said that we need to absorb the Panch Pran (five resolves) put forth by the PM1 to strengthen our country. Smt Seetharaman said that we should be proud of our heritage and legacy. She said “Learn about sustainable designs already produced by India and improve them for the ease of living of the present age” Quoting the various examples of indigenous sustainable designs like the blue leather and the jewellery patterns, she called upon the students to be both, “Agents of change and Agents of continuity”
In his address, the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal said that world over, the Indian economy is being looked at as a bright spot. He highlighted the successful innovations that the country
came up with during the Covid pandemic in production of PPE kits and testing swabs. Shri Goyal further recalled that he was in the city of Hyderabad which gave the country its own vaccine against covid made by Bharat Biotech. The Minister exhorted the students to come up with good designs which lead to cost reduction. Interacting with the audience, Goyal promised to put in place a completely online system for obtaining patents which would further strengthen the environment for innovation for the start-ups.
The heads of the institutes of National Institute of Fashion Technology, National Institute of Design, Footwear Design & Development Institute, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Indian Institute of Packaging and senior officers of the Ministry of Commerce like Mr. Rajeev Singh Thakur, Additional Secretory, Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha MD FDDI, Deepak Chaudhary Centre Incharge FDDI Hyderabad, Mr. Vijay Kumar Mantri NIFT Director, Prof. Shekher Mukherji of NID, Dr. Mrs Satinder Bhatia Dean IIFT, Vagish Dixit Chairman IIP participated in the event held at the Shilpakala vedika in Hyderabad today.
