Degree courses are breaking new ground. Job opportunities with traditional degrees are limited. With this, the authorities are designing new degree courses. As a part of the new National Education Policy-2020, the UGC (University Grants Commission) has suggested many additions and changes in the degree course. To this extent, universities are preparing to introduce four-year degree courses. As a part of this, degree honors and honors with research degree courses will be started in affiliated colleges of Dr. B.R Ambedkar University from this academic year. In the academic year 2020-21, the four-year degree will be started with the students who have passed the three-year course. Students currently studying in sixth semester of degree are eligible to join this course. There is a requirement that the students joining these two courses should have passed all the subjects by the completion of three years.
75 percent marks are mandatory..:
Students who want to do research degree must score 75% marks in group subjects. Honors degree course has papers in 6th , 7th and 8th semesters. These two semesters will consist of one online (mock), three group subject papers and two employability skill development papers. There will be 30 courses related to skill development. These should be selected according to the interest and ability of the students. Those who have completed honors degree can directly join the second year of PG. In the 7th semester of research degree there will be three methodology papers, two group subject research papers and one mock paper. Also in 8th semester one Mock paper and rest research papers should be read. Online (mock) courses of 15 weeks duration are sponsored by UGC, Swayam and NPTEL. Candidates who have completed research degree are eligible for direct PhD admission. For research degree, one-fifth of the students will be allocated to each PhD qualified faculty member.
Only if 30 percent admissions..:
The colleges intending to start Honors and Research degree courses should have at least 30 percent admissions in the last three years. Conducting research degree course should be done by PhD qualified faculty. Government Degree College (Arts College) and Government Women’s Degree Colleges in Srikakulam City are available to start research degree. The university authorities are considering the possibility of starting honors and research degree courses in Ambedkar University as well. Government degree colleges intending to start these courses should apply to the Commissioner of Collegiate Education. Also, for unaided (private) colleges, they have to apply to the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).

We are starting four-year honors and research degree courses after examining the qualifications in the affiliated degree colleges of the university.
