Inefficient government facilities lead to pregnant women death

NOB- Mulpet news: Pangi Roja (20) of Kumburla village in Mulpet Panchayat of Koyyuru mandal had labor pains around 5 pm on 20.06.2023. Asha worker Shanti made her sit on a stretcher with the help of villagers. They carried the stretcher for about 2 kilometers up the hill and the woman died leaving her family members in mourning.

45 families live in the village. From the top of the hill one has to walk about 8 km through a dirt track to reach Arla village, from where metalled road and transport is available to Daunur PHC which is 20 km away. In 2020-21, tribal families pooled their resources and constructed 8 km of unpaved road. Tribal community leaders K. Govinda Rao said that the road was washed away due to rains.

He said that no matter how many times we requested the government to provide roads and other infrastructure, they did not pay attention. Due to the lack of road, sometimes pregnant women die and their family members suffer tremendously.

The husband of the victim appealed to the Pangi Chanti district collector to visit the village and find a solution to save the lives of the tribals in the health emergency.
