In January, a 46-year-old French woman also went there for meditation. She wanted to meditate at the Deepamalai hill while staying in an ashram. For this, she hired a tourist guide named Venkatesan. He became a curse for her. He took a French young woman to meditate at the 2,668-foot-high Deepamalai hill. There, the guide took the woman to a secluded cave and sexually assaulted her. The police are currently investigating the matter based on the complaint filed by the victim. However, after the landslide last year, the authorities banned the general public from climbing the hill. The tourist, who thought this was an advantage and committed the crime. When the woman went to a cave on a hill to meditate, Venkatesan, a local guide, raped her. Somehow escaping from the clutches of the tourist guide, the woman descended the hill and immediately reached the Tiruvannamalai West police station and filed a complaint. Taking the incident seriously, the police formed a special team. They immediately took action and arrested the accused Venkatesan. The police admitted the victim to a government hospital. The police are investigating the matter in depth. They are trying to find out if other people were involved in the incident.
