
NOB- Karnataka news: The Karnataka Excise Department has stopped the sale of two batches of Kingfisher beer after sediments (hazardous chemicals) were found. Although orders were issued in this regard on August 2nd 2023, this matter came to light late.
The Excise Department registered a case against United Breweries, which manufactured the beer. This beer is brewed at the brewery plant in Nanjangad, Mysore district. The total value of the seized beer is estimated to be around Rs.25 crores. On July 17th 2023, all excise inspectors in the state were directed to stop the sale of two special batches of beer brewed at the plant. To this extent, the Deputy Commissioner of Excise of Bangalore Urban District stated in a letter on August 2nd 2023. In the interests of consumers, the sale of beer should be stopped.
Meanwhile, those beer bottles were supplied to the depots of Karnataka State Breweries Corporation Limited and retail vendors in the district. In this order, the authorities requested to stop the sale of those beers immediately in the interests of the consumers.
