Benefits of corticosteroids in COVID-19 treatment

Corticosteroid methylprednisolone has shown significant decrease in risk of mortality rate in patients with ADRS ( Adverse Drug Reactions). Dexamethasone has given better results in recovery trials.

Of 5 cases treated with corticosteroids, only 3 gave good results and rest of 2 doesn’t show any benefit. All the 5 cases were critically ill patients.

This therapy is beneficial for patients with

  1. Severe case on ventilator
  2. Moderate case on supplemental oxygen therapy

But not useful for mild to moderate cases requiring no oxygen.
