Corticosteroid methylprednisolone has shown significant decrease in risk of mortality rate in patients with ADRS ( Adverse Drug Reactions). Dexamethasone has given better results in recovery trials.
Of 5 cases treated with corticosteroids, only 3 gave good results and rest of 2 doesn’t show any benefit. All the 5 cases were critically ill patients.
This therapy is beneficial for patients with
- Severe case on ventilator
- Moderate case on supplemental oxygen therapy
But not useful for mild to moderate cases requiring no oxygen.
