NOB- Telangana news: The Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA) has issued a key warning to the public. It has ordered immediate stoppage of use of suspected Coldrif syrup batch no. SR 13. This decision was taken after reports of deaths of children in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan after consuming the cough medicine. Allegations are being made that Coldrif syrup (paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride, chlorpheniramine maleate combination) batch number SR13, manufacturing date May 2025, expiration date April 2027 manufactured by Srisan Pharma of Sunguvarchathiram in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu is contaminated with toxic diethylene glycol (DEG). With this, the DCA has clarified that this syrup should not be used. The DCA has asked the public, dealers and medical shops to immediately inform the Drug Control authorities if they have syrup of this batch number. It has been stated that information can be provided to the Telangana Drugs Control Administration toll-free number 1800-599-6969. DCA Director General, IPS Shahnawaz Qasim issued a statement to this effect on 04.10.205. Telangana Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation officials have clarified that Coldrif syrup is not among the medicines supplied by the government. They revealed that there are no tenders for cough medicines from Srisan Pharma of Tamil Nadu.
