Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly criticized the Congress government in Karnataka for removing the reservations of backward classes and giving them to Muslims. At an event held in Hisar, Haryana on 14.04.2025, he spoke about the 4 percent reservation for Muslims in government contracts. He said that people from SC, ST and OBC communities are being cheated. He said that the Constitution has been insulted and that the Congress is attacking Ambedkar. Modi said that they are working to provide social justice by amending the Waqf Act. He said that the rights of Muslim women have been protected by amending the Waqf Act and the Waqf Amendment Bill will benefit Muslims. Modi lashed out at the Congress party, saying that the Waqf rules were changed for vote banks, that land was being grabbed in the name of Waqf, and that the Waqf land mafia was looting the land of the poor. Modi accused the Congress of changing the Waqf Act for election purposes in 2013 and that this amendment was made in haste without considering the constitutional implications. Modi said that the Congress changed the Waqf Act for vote bank politics and described it as superior to the Constitution created by Baba Saheb, which was a great insult to Baba Saheb. Explaining the real purpose of the Waqf Board, Prime Minister Modi said that its aim is the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden Muslims, especially women. He said that thousands of Muslim women have written letters to the central government highlighting the misuse of Waqf properties, as a result of which there is a need to amend the law.
