NOB- Varanasi news: The Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to appoint policemen dressed as priests at the Kashi Vishwanatha temple in Varanasi has sparked controversy. The government has announced a dress code for the police on duty in the temple, instead of wearing khaki, traditional attire consisting of dhoti and kurta. Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal issued orders in this regard. As a result, the policemen on duty in the temple wore dhoti, kurta, Rudraksha necklaces around their necks, and women policemen wore salwar kurtas. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav responded to this matter. ‘Which police manual says that the police can wear a dress code similar to that of priests? Those who gave such orders should be immediately suspended, and if they use this as an opportunity in the future to commit fraud and exploit people, can the UP government give an answer?” he asked. On the other hand, social media is also criticizing this matter.
