NOB- Taiwan news: A series of earthquakes shook Taiwan. With this, a terrifying atmosphere prevailed in the capital Taipei City. The country’s meteorological department stated that an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale occurred.The earthquake shook the ground in Taipei for a few seconds and people ran out of buildings. According to the US Geological Survey, the tremors measured 5 on the Richter scale.The epicenter of the earthquake was located 21 kilometers southeast of Yilan on the northeastern coast at a depth of 69 kilometers. It is known that earthquakes occurred on the 3rd and 4th of April 2025.On March 28th 2025, a massive earthquake struck Thailand and Myanmar. Thousands of people died in the tragedy. The 7.7-magnitude quake caused extensive damage. It disrupted power and telephone services in many areas. Roads and bridges were damaged.The death toll from the earthquake has reached 3,600, with 5,017 injured, said Major General Zaw Min Tun, a spokesman for the military government. 160 people are missing, in Myanmar it is said that 1,738 personnel from 20 countries are helping with the rescue operation. The personnel have identified and assisted 653 survivors.
