NOB- Myanmar news: An earthquake has struck Myanmar again. The earthquake was registered as 5.1 on the Richter scale. With this, people ran from their homes. This is the second earthquake in 48 hours. First, a landslide that occurred on 28.03.2025 afternoon shook Myanmar. 1,664 people lost their lives due to the powerful earthquake. 3,408 people were seriously injured. The whereabouts of many people trapped under buildings are still unknown. On the other hand, local authorities estimate that the death toll is likely to increase further. Authorities have not yet counted the deaths in mountainous areas and rebel-held areas. If all of them are taken into account, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has revealed that the death toll is likely to exceed 10,000. This has affected all areas across Myanmar. Dozens of buildings have collapsed. Thousands of people have been left homeless. Videos of buildings collapsing have gone viral on social media. Meanwhile, an earthquake struck Indonesia on 30.03.2025 morning. Its intensity was recorded as 4.6 on the Richter scale. Local authorities identified the epicenter of the earthquake in the Sumatra islands. People were shaken by the sudden tremors.
