NOB- Suryapet news: Cases registered under Sec 120 (B), 420, 487 IPC, Sec.7 of EC Act-1955, Sec 19 of Seeds act-1966, Sec.15 (1) of E.P Act-1986. A task force team is working along with the law and order police to identify and prevent fake seeds in the district, we are working in coordination with the agriculture officials, we have also focused on the accused who have committed these types of crimes in the past, and if they commit crimes by habitually supplying fake seeds, the SP warned that the PD Act will be required. District SP Rahul Hegde IPS disclosed the details of the case in a press meet held at the district police office. Suryapet DSP Ravi, Nagaram CI Raghuveer Reddy, SI Satyanarayana, Yakub and staff participated in the program. In two cases, three accused have been arrested and 4 are absconding.

Tirumalagiri PS Case: Tirumalagiri Police arrested an accused who was selling fake cotton seeds and another accused who was selling government banned herbicide in Tirumalagiri mandal of Suryapet district on 05.06.2024 while two other accused are absconding. The police seized 52 kg of fake cotton seeds. Sankepalli Somireddy of Tirumalagiri Town Suryapet District Age: 53 years and Gugulot Prem Kumar Age 29-year-old of Idula Parre Thanda, Tirumalagiri Mandal, Suryapet District. Accused were selling fake cotton seeds to the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra on a large scale. Naga Malleshwar Rao, who is currently absconding, from Guntur district, a person named Anantha Reddy of Tirumalagiri bought the fake cotton seeds at a low price and accused Somireddy and Frame. In order to sell these fake seeds to the farmers at high prices, they spread fake cotton seeds at a high price by making false propaganda that these cotton seeds are resistant to Glyphosate herbicide and the yield of cotton is high and there is no need for frequent weeding. Tirumalagiri Police raided the houses of the accused on the basis of information received by the police and seized fake cotton seeds ready for sale and 300 litters of government banned herbicide and arrested the two accused.

Arvapalli PS Case: Arvapally police on 05.06.2024 arrested the accused who was selling fake cotton seeds in Koduru village under Arvapally police station and seized 22 kg of fake cotton seeds worth about Rs. 66,000 and arrested the accused and registered a case. Two accused are absconding in this case. Accused Namas Venkanna of Kodur Village, Arvapalli Mandal, Suryapet District along with his elder brother Namas Butchayya (now absconding) purchased fake cotton seeds from Kankaraboina Prasad (now absconding) of the same village about 15 days back. And while the accused named Venkanna was ready to sell fake cotton seeds at his house to convince the farmers that these seeds are not available at the local authorized dealers, Arvapalli Police conducted a raid and seized the fake cotton seeds ready for sale. The suspect named Namas Venkanna was arrested.

PD Act if fake seeds are sold: It will not be tolerated if the farmers are deceived with fake seeds, and the PD Act will be implemented against anyone who sells or supplies fake seeds. Suryapet District SP Rahul Hegde IPS said that if anyone gets information that fake seeds are being sold, they should immediately report to WhatsApp number 8712686026 and the details of those who have given the information will be kept confidential. The SP congratulated the staff of the Task Force, Special Branch, Tirumalagiri and Arvapalli police officers who worked well in the case of seizure of fake seeds.
