
NOB-Adilabad District news: A farmer died on 03.04.2024 evening in Burepalli, Chinta Lamanepalli mandal of Adilabad district after an elephant attack. The people of the nearby villages are panicking.The elephant entered Komurambhim district from Maharashtra forest area. After killing the farmer, the elephant went towards Lambadi Heti, Gangapur. After receiving the information, the staff of the forest department are forming teams. Efforts are being made to send them back to the forests of Maharashtra. People of nearby villages are advised to be alert.
According to the details given by the villagers, the elephant, which came from the Chinthalamanepalli forest area on the border of Telangana and Maharashtra, entered the suburb of Burepalli village and entered the pepper garden there. At that time Alluri Shankar (56) a farmer and his wife were working there. Shankar noticed the elephant and tried to drive it away but it attacked him. Shankar was severely injured and died on the spot. The wife ran away in fear and informed the villagers. Police and forest department officials arrived. People are asked to be vigilant.
This is the first such incident in the district. An official of the forest department said about this incident.There is no movement of elephants in Telangana. He said that a herd of 70 to 75 elephants is roaming in Gadcharoli district of Maharashtra on the other side of Pranahita river. Among these, it was revealed that a male elephant lost its way and crossed the river. Forest Minister Konda Surekha Shankar expressed his condolences to the family members. And for the family Rs. 10 lakh exgratia was announced.
