NOB-Mahabubabad news: On 11.07.2025, at the IMA building in Mahabubabad town, District Medical and Health Officer DR. B. Ravi Rathod organized a one-day training program for the staff and medical officers of 6 primary health centers and their sub-centers as part of the National Filaria Control Mass Drug Administration Program. Speaking on this occasion, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. B Ravi Rathod said that the disease of filariasis is spread from one person to another, especially by the Culex mosquito that breeds in dirty water. It is the responsibility of everyone to maintain environmental cleanliness, prevent the accumulation of sewage, identify areas where mosquitoes breed and bury them, and observe dry day every Friday to prevent the growth of mosquitoes. He said that DEC tablets should be swallowed to control filariasis, and that one-day training will be provided to medical officers, community health officers, HEOs, supervisors, and MLHPs in the district’s PHCs of Komatla Gudem, Gangaram, Kothaguda, Bayyaram, Mulkanur, Gandhampally, and all staff should make the mass drug administration program a success. In this training program, DR. Sunil Kumar, Zonal Malaria Officer, and DR. Sirisha, World Health Organization Consultant participated and trained the staff. Based on the recent surveys, traces of microfilaria, which causes filariasis, have been identified in five-year-old children. DEC tablets, Albendazole and Ivermectin, will be administered in every village of the above primary health centers in the district from 10-08-2025 to 25-08-2025. It was stated that DEC tablets should not be given to children under two years of age, nor to pregnant women, nor to those with chronic diseases. Program officers DR. Sudheer Reddy, DR. Sarangam, DR. Lakshminarayana, medical officers, District Deputy Mass Media Officer Prasad, Health Educator Purushottam, K.V. Raju, Sub-Unit Officer Ramakrishna, Swamy, Fa Heemuddin, Lingareddy, Anil, and medical staff participated in this program.
