
NOB-Hyderabad news: A Renowned revolutionary poet and folk singer Gaddar passed away. He was suffering from illness for the past few days and breathed his last on 06.08.2023 while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital.
Gaddar’s son Suryam officially revealed this matter. Doctors announced that the operation was successful two days later this sad news. Gaddar’s real name is Vithal Rao. Known to all as Gaddar, his real name is Gummadi Vitthal Rao.
He was born in a Gaddar Dalit family in Thupran village of Medak district.
Mother’s name is Lacchamma and father’s name is Seshaiah. He completed his education in Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad District, Hyderabad. Gaddar actively participated in the Telangana movement of 1969.
He campaigned in all places again during the movement. For this he chose Burrakatha.
Film directors B. Narasingrao, who saw his performance, gave him an opportunity to perform a performance on Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary. After that he used to give his shows every Sunday. In 1971 he wrote the first song “Apara Rickshaw” with the encouragement of B. Narasingrao. His first album was titled Gaddar. This became his name.
Among the songs written by Gaddar, the song “Amma Telanganama” became widely popular. The song “Nee Padam Aya Puttu Maccha Nai Chellemma” also won the Nandi Award for the best song. But he refused the award.
He also appeared on screen in the Telangana movie Jai Bo. He wrote and sang the song on ‘Podusanya Poddu’.
This song became very popular in the Telangana movement.
