A pilot program is being made available from December 2023 so that NRIs can renew their H-1B visas without going to their home countries. The US government has taken this important decision to further simplify the H-1B visa renewal process. The program will be available for three months, said Julie Stough, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Visa Services. First 20 thousand people will be renewed under this pilot program. Julie revealed that a large percentage of Indians will benefit from this program. Julie mentioned that we are trying to give visa appointments as soon as possible to Indian travelers and this is one of them. H-1B visa holders staying in America for three months from December can renew their visas without going to their home countries. Under the pilot program, the visas of 20,000 people will be renewed here. It is said that the majority of them will be Indians. Julie disclosed that the program will be gradually expanded. With this, American embassies in India will be able to focus on more new applications. At present, it has been clarified that this program is being made available only for H-1B category work visas. Official notice will be issued soon, the details of who is eligible for this visa renewal and how to apply will be revealed soon.
