
NOB-Hyderabad news: Prominent industrialist and head of the Veljan Group of Companies, Velamati Chandrasekhara (VC) Janardhana Rao (86), was brutally murdered by his grandson in the wake of property disputes. According to the details given by the Panjagutta police. Janardhana Rao, a resident of Eluru area in AP, has been residing in Somajiguda for several years. Recently, his eldest daughter’s son, Srikrishna, was appointed as the director of the Veljan company. Another daughter, Sarojini Devi, transferred shares worth Rs. 4 crore in the name of her son, Kilaru Kirti Teja (29). In this context, there has been a dispute over property for the past few days. On 06.02.2025 night, Sarojini Devi came to her father’s house with her son Kirti Teja. Kirti Teja got into an argument with his grandfather over the division of property. When Sarojini Devi went to bring tea, Kirti Teja stabbed his grandfather 73 times with the knife he had brought with him. Hearing the screams and cries, Sarojini Devi ran to her father. Her son also attacked her and stabbed her in four places with a knife. When the guard Veera Babu, who was there, tried to come near the,, he warned him not to come near. Later, Kirti Teja fled from there. The police, who registered a case, arrested the accused in Panjagutta on 08.02.2025 and sent him to remand. Sarojini Devi is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jubilee Hills. The police suspect that Kirti Teja is addicted to drugs. Janardhana Rao has donated Rs.40 crores to the Eluru Government Hospital in several installments and Rs. 40 crores to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. He has also donated to various NGOs in the states of AP and Telangana.
