IIT student develops cell phone unlocking using breath

NOB_ Cell phone unlocking using breath

NOB-Chennai news: Generally, fingerprints and irises are different for each person. A lot of knowledge has already been made available based on it. Using them, we are unlocking the phone through fingerprint and iris. Instead, Mukesh, a research student at IIT Madras, is developing technology to unlock them with breath. Once this breath knowledge is developed into practical applications, it could be used for security operations including cellphone unlocking, he said. He said that this technology is also useful in the field of medicine. Air comes out of the lungs through the respiratory tract when a person exhales. Every human being is different in that respiratory system. This causes fluctuations in the wind speed. Through this study we have shown that it is possible to distinguish one person from another based on this. We have some ideas to further improve this technology. The use of this technology requires human survival. So it also serves as proof of survival. It can also be used as an inhalation therapy for those suffering from respiratory problems. It can also be used to pre-determine how much medicine should be given to a person with these disorders,” said Mahesh, Head of Department of Corporate Communication, Applied Mechanics, IIT.
