NOB – New Delhi news: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who reached the Parliament premises at 7:30 in the morning, first paid their respects to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Later, they participated in the puja programs held at the new Parliament building.

First Ganapati Homam was performed amidst chanting of Vedic mantras by the priests who came from Sringeri Math in Karnataka. After that PM Modi prostrated to the historical scepter Sengol. Later Vedic scholars handed over Sengol to Prime Minister Modi. Prime Minister Modi, wearing a holy scepter in his hand, received the blessings of Vedic scholars from various districts of Tamil Nadu. Later, Prime Minister Modi took Sengol to the new Parliament building in a procession amidst chanting of Nadaswaram and Vedic mantras. It is enshrined in a special enclosure to the right of the speaker’s chair in the Lok Sabha chamber. After that, Prime Minister Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla lit the lamp.
