NOB- America news: An Indian student who went to America for higher education was caught by the local police for engaging in fraudulent activities. The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) has arrested an Indian student named Kishan Kumar Singh (21) for trying to defraud an elderly woman in the state of North Carolina and extract money. Officials revealed that he committed this fraud while posing as a law enforcement officer. The matter came to light after a 78-year-old woman from the Stokesdale area received threatening calls from unknown individuals. The callers introduced themselves as federal agents and deputies. They convinced her that her bank accounts were linked to criminal activity in another state. They immediately withdrew a large amount of cash and pressured her to hand it over to them for “security.” In order to receive the money from the victim, Kishan Kumar Singh went to her home posing as a federal agent. However, officers from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, who were already alert, arrived and arrested Singh red-handed. A police investigation revealed that Singh had been in the United States on a student visa since 2024. Authorities determined that he lived near Cincinnati, Ohio, and was directly involved in this fraud. Guilford County Sheriff Danny H. Rogers also confirmed Kishan Kumar Singh’s arrest. If convicted in this case, Kishan Kumar Singh will face serious legal consequences. According to US laws, not only will his visa be revoked, but experts believe that he could also be deported from the country. This incident is likely to have an impact on Indian students studying in the US.
