Rishi Sunak, the Indian has been unanimously elected as UK prime Minister which was announced on 24.10.2020, it is a really auspicious day for Indians as it is the festival of Diwali. It is a proud moment that the Country that ruled over India for 100 years is now having a Prime Minister of Indian roots.

 Rishi Sunak indian roots were from Punjab and later they moved on to UK and settled there. He told reporters that Iam completely British citizen but my cultural heritage hails from India.

Prime Minister Narendera Modi wrote “Special Diwali wishes to ‘living bridge’ of UK Indians as we transform historic ties into modern partnership,”.

He served as a Chancellor of Exchequer from 2020 to 2022 and also Chief Secretary to the Treasury from2019 to 2020. Since 2015 he has been member of parliament for Richmond.

Sunak is married to Akshatha Murty who is daughter of Infosy founder N.R. Narayana Murty.
