
NOB- Secundrabad news: A 47-year-old resident of Secunderabad was duped of Rs.24,44,152 after being contacted on WhatsApp by a person posing as “Sharanya.” She convinced the victim to download the KDEOne Gold trading app from the Play Store, promising returns up to 70%. Fraudsters initially allowed small withdrawals to build trust. The app later showed a fake profit of Rs.39 lakhs, after which the withdrawal option was disabled. The accused then demanded additional payments for “taxation” and “conversion charges.” The victim eventually realized it was a scam.
Public Advisory:
* Don’t trust WhatsApp/social media contacts offering high-profit investments.
* Don’t download trading apps suggested by strangers.
* Fraudsters allow small withdrawals first, then block funds.
* Never pay money to personal accounts for trading/taxes.
* Verify platforms with official institutions/SEBI-registered advisors.
* Report cyber frauds immediately to 1930 or www.cybercrime.gov.in
