They held each other’s hands and punched each other. One woman, who took a stick and beat the women who had quarreled with her in the queue, showed the intensity of the conflict there. In the wake of the campaign that the Mahalakshmi scheme that the state government will give to women will start soon and that this scheme will be applicable only to women who have postal accounts, women are running to post offices to get postal accounts. Women who do not have postal accounts are being told that the Rs. 2,500 given by the government under the Mahalakshmi scheme will not be credited to the bank account and that they should take post office account before Rakhi Pournami, all the women are frantically queuing at post offices. It is not known where the rumor that the Mahalaxmi scheme is applicable only if you have a postal account originated, but it has spread to the city as well as the rural areas of the district. Hundreds of women have been queuing at the head post office in Nizamabad city for a week. Recently, on 07.08.2025, about 500 women came to the post office in the morning holding all the documents required to get a postal account and stood in a queue. Till then, the women were standing in the queue, pushing each other and shouting at each other. Meanwhile, some women in the queue suddenly got angry and started beating each other, which frightened the other women in the queue. As the women who had nothing to do with their fight were also beaten, they also showed their hands on other fellow women. A woman picked up a stick lying nearby and attacked her fellow women at will. For a while, it was unclear what was happening there and where the women’s clash would lead. Finally, the local employees and officials gathered the women and the fight subsided. As all the women calmed down and stood in the queues again, the storm seemed to have subsided. Migrant labor women from the Maharashtra region on the district border are doing various jobs in the district center. It seems that some political leader has given hope to the labor category women from Maharashtra that the Mahalaxmi scheme, which will be implemented by the state government before the upcoming local body elections and it is said that local political leaders have propagated among the women that the Mahalaxmi scheme is applicable only to those who have a postal account. It is not known which party has spread these rumors. On this issue, postal officials and welfare scheme implementation officials say that they have not received any information from the government regarding the implementation of the Mahalaxmi scheme. Postal department officials are also saying the same thing. They say that no matter how much they explain to the women, they do not listen, and that the servers are also getting busy with hundreds of women flocking to the post offices every day.
