NOB-Hyderabad news: A protest by doctors is coming in protest against the incident of rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. The Indian Medical Association, the country’s largest medical staff organization, has started a nationwide strike from 17.08.2024.In this strike, which is considered to be the biggest strike in a decade, many medical services have stopped. The rape and murder of a 31-year-old post-graduate trainee doctor while performing her duties at the RG Care Medical College Hospital in Kolkata has sparked a nationwide uproar.This incident which took place on August 9th 2024, sparked massive protests in Kolkata. Due to this, the medical groups went on protests and strikes across the country.It is known that the IMA announced on 16.08.2024 that it will go on strike for 24 hours from 6 am on 17.08.2024. Medical circles have also declared their support for this.The Indian Medical Association has announced a nationwide strike from 6 am on 17.08.2024 to 6 am on 18.08.2024. Many hospital departments will be closed this weekend. General outpatient departments (OPDs) and elective surgeries will be closed.Emergency services will continue as usual. Casualty services are available to continue any emergency medical needs that arise. This strike will affect all areas where modern medicine doctors work, including government and private hospitals.
