NOB- Hyderabad news:  A brainstorming session was held on 07.01.2024 on the proposals for new routes for the second phase of Metrorail. Under the guidance of Hyderabad Airport Metrorail Limited (HAML) MD NVS Reddy, a wide discussion was held with engineering experts and senior officials of Metro at Metrorail Bhavan. Challenges, limitations and possible technical solutions to the proposed new routes were discussed.

For clarity on the path. There is a proposal for a route from Nagol-LBnagar-Mylardevpally-Shamshabad airport. There is another route connecting Nagol-LBnagar-Mylardevpally-Arangar-New High Court. Discussed with experts on which way to choose and how to do it.

5.5 km from MGBS to Falaknuma. Another 1.5 km of the route till Chandrayanagutta. The extension will connect the airport to the metro. An airport interchange station will come up at Chandrayanagutta. Due to the presence of a narrow road and a flyover, the limitations of the Metrorail reversal and stabling lines and the possible technical solutions were mainly discussed.

For the second phase of Metro Rail, new depots, Operation Control Centers (OCC) locations, as suggested by the CM to reduce the cost of construction, were discussed on the feasibility of constructing the metro from Mylardevpally to the airport via the land route.

● The meeting recognized the need to provide hassle-free travel facility to move from one corridor to another. It was decided to discuss all these with experts during the formulation of DPR.

● NVS Reddy ordered senior engineers and consultants to study the best practices being followed in different metros of the country. He said that provision of adequate parking facilities in new metro stations, last mile connectivity to connect with buses and other transport systems, free space for luggage in airport metro trains etc. should be prioritized while preparing the DPR. Chief Electrical Engineer DVS Raju, Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer SK Das, Chief Project Manager B. Anand Mohan, General Managers M. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, B. N. Rajeshwar and Metro Rail experts from the consultancy firm participated in the meeting.
