Supreme court says that to avoid unnecessary riots, installation of Ganesh Idol and celebrating Ganesh chathurti at Idgah grounds at Bangalore is not allowed. Earlier Karnataka High Court had given clearance for the celebrations but the three member judges appointed for this had differences in their opinions. So the state Waqf Board has approached Supreme Court, and it was said that the place was used by Muslims from decades. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) on August 6th said that the 2.5 acre land of Idgah Maidan belongs to state and does not belongs to Waqf board. So Supreme Court by understanding the depth of the situation has ordered status quo. Security was tightened at the area to avoid disturbances around Idgah Maidan.
