NOB-Suryapet news:  Amidst the performances of the gajjala, katar and vinyasas, and the worship of devotees, the Peddagattu Jatara reverberated with the recitation of the Linga o Linga Nama, the Lingamantula Swamy Jatara, organized by the famous spiritual Veda Kaga in Suryapet district of Telangana state, began on a grand scale. It is popular as the second largest jatara in the state after the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara. The Lingamantula Swamy Jatara, the worshipped deity of the Yadavas, began on a grand scale with the arrival of the Peddagattu Devarapette from Kesaram on 17.02.2025 midnight. Lakhs of devotees have flocked to this five-day-long Mahajatara not only from the Telugu states but also from various parts of the country. Devotees are worshipping the Lord with traditional weapons such as swords, knives and drums, reaching the top of the hill and paying obeisances. The area around Peddagattu has become a hub of devotees due to the influx of devotees. Keeping in mind the rush of devotees, the authorities have imposed traffic restrictions on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway. Arrangements have been made to divert vehicles coming from Vijayawada to Hyderabad via Kodad, Miryalaguda, Nalgonda and Narkatpally. The Lingamantula Swamy Jatara held at Peddagutta in Durajpalli in Suryapet district has a history of 300 years. This Jatara is held every two years. This Jatara attracts devotees with special festivals and puja programs every day for five days. Devotees carry gampas in their homes and circumambulate the temple with traditional weapons. Yadava priests offer bonalu, decorate the polu munthals, vermilion and bangles and offer offerings.
