The covid-19 cases have spiked in Maharashtra, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab which was reported recently by AIIMS institute. The chief of AIIMS Dr.Randeep Guleria also said that the new strains detected now in India are far more dangerous than the original one and in India herd immunity is myth, he added.
Two hundred and forty new strains were reported across India on 21st February 2021 as per Dr.Shashank Joshi a task force member.
These new strains are actually escaping the immune mechanism of neutralization, so vaccines and antibodies generated by self or through vaccines will not work on them. Dr. Guleria reassured that the vaccines may work but with lower efficacy. People may get infected even after they take vaccine also.
