It has been revealed that a hacking group called Red Alpha from China is carrying out cyber attacks targeting governments, NGOs and news publications around the world. Last year, Red Alpha hacked 350 domains, Recorded Future a cyber security company has confirmed it. The RedAlpa Group has said that it has carried out attacks targeting the National Informatics Center in India.
NIC manages the largest IT infrastructure for the Government of India. Organizations such as the International Federation of Human Rights, Amnesty International, The Mercator Institutes of China Studies, Radio Free Asia, The American Institute of Taiwan are among its victims. Apart from this, the Uighur Muslims, people and organizations belonging to minority communities in Tibet are also in the target list.
Recorded Future claims that it has recently been spying on Taiwan’s political institutions and gathering information. The group has revealed that it is monitoring websites that register domains from Taiwan. It sends some kind of PDF files with links to phishing sites to target people. When people open these, their login credentials fall into RedAlpha’s hands. Recorded Future has revealed that this company has huge staff resources.
