Scientists confirmed second wave of COVID-19 in Europe is a mutated one

The mutated form 20A.EU1 of SARS-COV-2 is now spreading very fastly and is confirmed as “Superspreader” by a team of scientists from the University of Basel, ETH Zurich in Basel and Seq COVID in Spain.

The recent sequences in Europe that account for majority of spreading are 20A.EU1 and 20A.EU2 strains. It is believed that spreading occurred because of lack of monitoring of intercontinental travel during pandemic and allowing of quarantine free travel by the authorities within the continent.

Scientists claiming that this variant could be more dangerous than previous wave strain but the reason for its fast spreading is not known exactly.

European government is taking all measures for stopping the spread of these new variants by implementing strict lockdown again.
