NOB- Telangana news: The Telangana government is preparing for the municipal elections. It has worked on the division of wards in new municipalities. Municipal department officials have prepared proposals to this effect. The notification regarding the division of wards was released on 03.06.2025. 18 new municipalities and 5 new municipal corporations will be formed across the state. Nearby villages have been merged into 7 municipalities. Municipal department officer Sridevi released the schedule for the division of wards in new municipalities and corporations. The officials were instructed to complete the division of wards by the 21st of June 2025.
Reservations to be finalized soon: The government has already prepared the division of wards in villages and panchayats and the voter list. The division of MPTCs and the voter list are being prepared and preparations are being made for the elections. It has been learned that the reservations required for the elections will be finalized soon. In this context, the division of wards in the towns will also be carried out, and the voter list will be completed after that. Official sources say that there is a possibility of holding elections later. Once the elections for Panchayat, MPTC members and ZPTC are completed, the elections for urban local bodies (municipal) will be held. The machinery is making appropriate arrangements for this. The local body elections will be held sequentially.
Re-division: Wards will be divided in Kohir, Kesamudram, Aswaraopet, Station Ghanpur, Maddur, Edulapuram, Devarakadra, Gaddapotharam, Gummadidala, Isnapur, Chevella, Moinabad, Mulugu, Bichkunda, Kalluru, Aliabad, Muuuchintalapalli, and Ellampeta municipalities. New wards will also be formed in the areas merged into Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Kothagudem Municipal Corporations, Narsampet, Parigi, Kollapur, Aleru, Banswada, Jagityala, and Haliya municipalities. After the division of wards in the new municipalities, the reservation process is expected to be completed by the end of June 2025 and be ready for elections.
