Rachakonda police caught nine members of a gang who were running a fake call center in Kolkata whowere harassing thousands of people by talking in Telugu. Two of them are Biharis and seven are Telugu. Three people were arrested in the same case less than a month ago. With the latest arrests, the number of accused has gone up to 12. Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat revealed these details on Wednesday.

Uttamkumar Yadav (21) from Katri Sarai in Bihar met Mudawat Ramesh (31) from Gollabanda Tanda of Mahbubnagar district who was working as a call center in-charge in Kolkata. They were joined by Mukesh Kumar (30) from Bihar and Konda Jaganmohan Reddy (25) from Guntur. All together started work at the center of Kolkata. Praupula Shankar (34), Raju (19), Katravat Ramchander (32), Chandu (22) from Warangal and Gade Srisailam (24) from Medak were appointed as telecallers.

They collect the personal details and phone numbers of the buyers of goods on e-commerce websites from the data providers. Letters with scratch cards are sent to their address stating that they have won a Mahindra car. Send messages to mobile. The telecallers will speak in Telugu to the callers making them to believe that GST is attached to the car. They say that the gift should be confirmed. Later they ask to deposit more money for registration, delivery charges and security. After spending a lot of money like this, the SIM is removed from the phone. Telecallers are given 30 percent share of the fraud money. Police said that each telecaller earns from Rs.50 thousand to Rs.1 lakh per week. It was revealed that there are 116 cases in 19 states and 34 in Telangana against Uttam Kumar Yadav and another absconding criminal, Patna Rameshmalik.
