Tragedy happened in Kerala, 20 people died when the boat carrying passengers capsized. The incident took place near Tuvalthiram beach in Tanur town of Malappuram district at around 7 pm on 07.05.2023. A houseboat carrying 30 passengers capsized accidentally. Among the dead were women and five children. As it was summer vacation, they all came for a vacation and got into an accident.

Sports Minister Abdu Rahiman said that the cause of the overturning of the boat was not known and most of the dead were trapped in the bottom of the boat. He is monitoring the relief efforts along with Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riaz. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed shock over the boat capsizing incident. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shock over the boat capsize incident in Kerala. Affected families will get Rs. 2 lakh financial assistance has been announced.
