NOB-Prayagraj news: A stampede took place at the Kumbh Mela. Lakhs of devotees reached Triveni Sangam to take part in the Amrit Snan on the occasion of Mauna Amavasya. However, a stampede took place there for 3 hours in the early hours of 29.01.2025. 14 people died in the stampede. It is said that more than 50 people were injured. The bodies have been shifted to Swarup Rani Hospital in Prayagraj. Post mortem will be conducted there. Prime Minister Modi spoke to UP CM Yogi on 29.01.2025 on the situation at Mahakumbh. He spoke to him three times already and got to know about the situation there. Prime Minister Modi is continuously reviewing the situation at Kumbh Mela. The Prime Minister has ordered that immediate relief measures be taken. He is in touch with UP government officials. He is suggesting the steps to be taken to bring the situation under control. 13 Akhadas have cancelled Amrita Snan due to the stampede. However, there are chances that the Akhadas will go for Amrit Snan after 10 am on 29.01.2025. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took stock of the situation with the UP CM. Around 70 ambulances reached the site of the stampede at Triveni Sangam in the morning of 29.01.2025. The evacuation process took place for about three hours. With the intention of taking a bath on the new moon day, crores of devotees have reached Prayagraj. According to the officials, it seems that 5 crore people are already in the vicinity of Prayagraj. In addition, there are chances that the number will increase by the evening of 29.01.2025.
