NOB_Hyderabad (Malakpet): A tragic incident was reported under Malakpet Police Station limits where a 35-year-old police constable died by suicide while on a WhatsApp video call with a woman.

The deceased has been identified as Mutthe Chandrasekhar (35), ARPC No. 11729 of the 2020 batch. He was working as a Writer at Amberpet SCRCPL Headquarters under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate. He is a native of Budhakurd village, Bellampally in erstwhile Adilabad district and was living alone near Shalivahana Nagar Park, Moosarambagh.

According to police, around 12:20 AM on Sunday midnight, Chandrasekhar made a WhatsApp video call to a young woman named Swathi, who is reportedly taking coaching in Dilsukhnagar, and told her that he was going to end his life. Alarmed, the woman immediately approached Chaitanyapuri police.

Chaitanyapuri police alerted Malakpet police, and the patrol team rushed to his residence. By the time they broke open the door, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Chandrasekhar was engaged to the woman and there were disputes between both families over suspicion of her alleged relationship with another person. Police suspect that mental distress over the personal relationship led to the extreme step. The exact reason is yet to be ascertained.

Police said his parents are retired Singareni employees and he has four elder sisters, with no financial issues in the family. The body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem. Malakpet police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
