NOB_Suryapeta : Suryapet District SP K. Narasimha IPS has advised the people of Suryapet district to be vigilant against financial frauds happening in the name of Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) and Chain Marketing. He warned people not to lose their hard-earned money by investing in such schemes without verifying details, lured by promises of earning more money in less time.It has come to the notice of the police department that some persons in the district are attracting people using MLM by selling products like electric bikes, magnetic mattresses, magic water bottles, magic wristbands, two-wheelers, four-wheelers and electronic gadgets, the SP said. They are selling goods at prices much higher than the actual market value and offering membership in the company upon purchase, and claiming that huge commissions will be earned if three more new members are added, he said.He explained that they are luring people by saying income will increase as more people are added. Initially, commissions are paid to some to gain trust, and after collecting money from more people, there is a risk that payments will be stopped, offices closed and operators will become unavailable, he warned. He also said information has been received that some companies are collecting money even before launch, claiming that their company will start soon and that huge commissions will come in future if membership or deposit is paid in advance.Precautions to be taken by the public:Do not believe chain marketing schemes that promise huge commissions for adding new members.Do not buy goods at high prices without knowing their actual market value.Thoroughly verify company registration, legal permissions, business policy and payment terms.Do not take loans or sell assets to invest hoping for high profits.Do not blindly believe social media ads, promotional videos and attractive promises.Do not enroll family members, relatives and friends in such suspicious schemes.SP clarified that not every business conducted in the name of MLM is illegal, but special vigilance is required for schemes where the main source of income is enrolling new members and collecting money from them rather than actual product sales.Victims should complain:SP advised those who have already paid money in such schemes and been cheated to immediately lodge a complaint at the nearest police station without any fear. He requested them to provide membership receipts, bank transaction details, WhatsApp messages, promotional videos and other evidence to the police. He also appealed to those who have information about operators of such organizations or suspicious activities to inform the police. He said the police department is conducting a full-scale investigation into such activities and will take strict action as per relevant laws against those involved in illegal activities. The goal of the police department is the financial security of the people. Public vigilance is the check against financial frauds. District SP K. Narasimha IPS appealed that everyone should act responsibly without falling prey to greed of earning money easily and prevent others from being cheated.
