Wire bridge collapsed

The Aguani-Sultanganj cable-stayed bridge under construction in Bihar has collapsed. The incident took place in Bagalpura around 6 pm. These scenes have gone viral. CM Nitish Kumar has issued orders to investigate the incident. The government is constructing a four-lane cable-stayed bridge with a length of about 3,160 meters. Rs.1,710 crore has been allocated for this. Foundation stone was laid by Nitish Kumar on 23 February 2014. It is noteworthy that this bridge has collapsed for the second time.

Officials said there were no fatalities. Opposition leaders criticized the government over this incident. they accused Nitish-led government of being corrupt. He accused CM Nitish of talking about the unity of the opposition even though local governance is deteriorating. Appointing a commission on the incident has become a political tradition.
The bridge connects NH-31 and NH-107 across Sultan Ganj, Khagaria, Saharsha and Madepura districts.
